Birchbox - Canceled

After 13 months of bb, I canceled. Here's why.

It started w/ this box. This particular month, they partnered w/ Gossip Girl. Stila & Dior Extase were heavily promoted. I was super excited, when bb partnered w/ Teen Vogue, the box was AWESOME. I got a lip plumper & hand cream. Ugh...so disappointing

I was so irritated w/ this box, I didn't even blog about it. Bandaids & bronzer? I'm blessed w/ a natural tan (filipino) so the bronzer is useless. I heard the peach shade makes a pretty blush but I didn't get that one. Think those bandaids are cute? They have them for $2.50 @ Target. BB sells them for $11?!? I left some nasty feedback on that one.

I planned on canceling after I received this box. They gave me a full size Laura Geller lipstick. It was only in one box & everyone wanted it. Can't freakin cancel now. Now, I mistakenly think I'm on the good box list.

Ugh. This one did me in. While a new razor is usable, its not what I would expect from a beauty sub. Walmart sent out the identical razor for free just weeks prior. Also, got some samples from Miss Jessie's. You can get these for free on Miss Jessie's website. You can see plain as day that is says free on the packets. Why am I paying for samples I can get for free on my own? The DDF cleanser was the only saving grace. Come to find out, they handed out full size cleansers in other boxes (not the 2 oz I got). This box left such a bad taste in my mouth. Its not only the quality of boxes, its their customer service too. I usually have some kind of issue every month, whether its a damaged sample or one they didn't include. I usually get a response with in a few days. Now, its a week if they even get back to you. You call & its always a answering machine. I think bb got too big for its britches & they need to scale back.

Crave Box - May

My beloved crave box has arrived. I've been on the waiting list since January! When they announced they would be accepting new subs in May, I got really excited. I even put money aside in case they opened when I was broke. I didn't get in...super disappointed. They opened a few other spots, I thought I would get in for sure. No such luck :(  And then finally, I got the magical email that read that I was in! Happy Dance.

I got a huge shea butter body scrub, intense repair cream (going to my son who has eczema), dried plums, tea & chocolates.

I love this box! I paid $10. I love its quirkiness. I love the idea of paying $10 for a box of fun. Its quickly becoming my favorite sub.

There is a waiting list to join. Try to be patient. It's worth the wait.

Glossy Box May

Drum roll please.............

Finally the coveted glossy box has arrived & I couldn't be more pleased. The box itself is really nice, I plan on keeping all of them. Its got a great mix of products & it only took 6 days to reach me (bb is 3 weeks+).

Turns out the lipstick & mask isn't full sized like I thought. The lipstick is soooo cute, I don't even mind that it isn't full sized. The mask probably has a good 5 uses out of it. I tried the moisturizer last night. Normally, this would go on ebay as I like creams more than gels. I love it! This is a great moisturizer for summer or oily skin. Light weight & soaks up your skin. It isn't greasy at all. I wish the scent was more subtle but its not a bad scent.

UPDATE: The very next day my face wouldn't stop itching so this ended up going to my mom.

I also tried the toothpaste last night. It tastes much better than the colgate optic white I have been using.  I know some were irritated to get toothpaste in a beauty box. I would never spend $7.50 on toothpaste so this is a luxurious treat to me.

LOVE the entire box! Except the hot pink polish. That will go on ebay. I already have meg & carly from the collection and I HATE pink.

Here is my May box. I had such a hard time choosing. I went with classic w/ a twist & added on Kylie & Sarah. That's something new. You can add on other polishes or mani/pedi items to your monthly boxes. The polishes cost $4.99 each to add on, the mani/pedi items are more though I can't remember how much more. I haven't figured out how to use Kylie properly. Its a magnetic polish but my brush is frayed. I've contacted Julep for a replacement. Hubby is going to let me play on his nails (he's such a good sport) so I'll let you know if I figure it out.
